This really is the idyllic waterside retreat you’ve always dreamed of. The sense that it’s been lived in and loved for years, gathering a natural collection of art and artefacts, instantly puts you at ease.
You’ll be barefoot on the balcony minutes after you arrive, sipping a glass of something local from the dresser that groans with a selection of “welcome gins”. The kitchen is well stocked and arranged around a big mahogany island, so you can cook up a great meal before slumping onto the window seat or the corner sofa by the wood burner. If you don’t fancy cooking, then you can kayak round the corner for lunch, because despite a feeling of being hidden in the trees above the water, the Boathouse is just a few minutes paddle from Kingsbridge.
The Boathouse was previously home to a handmade boat, a Salcombe Yawl, and has been restored using boat-builders materials - dark teak and aged brass - and furnished with cherished finds, crumpled linens and bespoke furniture.
It’s a fantastic place to relax and watch the ever-changing estuary (even from the shower!), or to head out on trips into beautiful Devon. There’s wild Dartmoor to the north or the lush Devon coastline to explore, with miles of coastal path hiking that end back on the balcony watching the sea.

“Had to wait an extra 10 months for this trip due to lockdown, but wow, it’s been so worth it - we’ve fallen in love with the Boathouse, the peace and quiet has been a joy. Spent many hours sitting outside, just taking in the changing tides and the stars at night.
